65+ nutrient dense real food snack recipes, to satisfy your every need.

photo collage for 65+ nutrient dense real food snack recipes.

A little while ago, I asked my tribe on Facebook, “what kinds of recipes do you need?” The most requests I received were for snacks. I then set out to find the best nutrient dense snack recipes for everyone.

I put out a request to my favourite food blogger friends for their BEST nutritious real food snack recipes. I received over 300 snack recipes submitted to me, I read every single one of them and hand-picked my favourite 68 listed in this post.

What’s my criteria for selection?

  • The priority is nutrient density, clean and whole food ingredients.
  • I also take into consideration of cooking methods for digestibility and health impacts. For example, no raw grains are in the final products; and I give preference to recipes cooked in oxidatively stable fats, whenever possible.
  • A good subset of these recipes exemplify the wisdoms in traditional cooking, such as sprouting, soaking, fermenting, nose-to-tail eating, all to maximize nutritional values as well as our bodies’ ability to absorb these nutrients.
  • I also give preferences to savoury and low sugar snacks, because I am certain that all of us are eating enough sugar these days.

How to use this list?

These 68 snack recipes are divided into 8 sections, with the first 4 heavily focused on savoury snacks, and the last 4 on sweet snacks.

  • Dips, Spreads and Cheese
  • Homemade Crackers
  • Healthy Chips
  • Savoury Bites & Niblets
  • Baked Goodness
  • Sweet Miscellaneous
  • Energy Balls, Bars and Fat Bombs
  • Gummies & Jello
